MATHEMATICS · EXPLORATION · TEACHING

Mathematics is a place to wander.

Math Nomad is a home for visual investigations, interactive tools, careful exposition and problems worth carrying with you.

Choose an object to manipulate, an idea to understand, or an investigation to take into a classroom. The same mathematics often appears in all three forms.

FEATURED EXPLORATION

Sixteen kolam tiles

Every four-bit word encodes a square tile. The bits record openings in the order east–north–west–south. Arrange all sixteen tiles so that neighbouring edges agree, the boundary closes and the drawing is connected.

The construction board, a sliding puzzle and an orbit challenge turn one small tile set into three distinct mathematical experiments.
